Why Your Health Matters During the On-Going Pandemic
Everyone is tired of not being able to travel and wearing a mask. We get it! The end is in sight, and now more than ever, it is important to remain diligent in our efforts to maintain or perhaps improve our health.
Scheduling a type of daily physical movement: a short walk, chair yoga, or a gentle stretch will help relieve mental tension, improve blood circulation, ease muscle strain, increase overall energy, help you feel more relaxed, and may help you sleep better. Scheduling in a walk around the block might also be a way to stay in contact with family, friends, or neighbors!
Regular physical activity provides a distraction from daily worries and can also help alleviate feelings of isolation and depression. Exercising has a positive impact on brain chemicals like serotonin, endorphins, and stress hormones. If you can exercise with others, the opportunity for increased social contact can also provide a much-needed distraction and provide a sense of community.
Focusing on good nutrition won’t cure or prevent COVID-19; however, a healthy diet will support your immune system, reduce the potential of other health issues such as heart disease, obesity, and diabetes. While there is no “perfect diet,” including more protein, veggies, fruits, and grains (what we call “power foods”) can boost your energy and your mood.
If you need a goal to motivate you to start moving, we have you covered at AMCP 2023 with AMCP Foundation virtual 5K for the Future, Relaxation Station, or the Sleep-in for Wellness Fundraiser!
